Not-for-profit organization “Cheshtha” successfully organises Free Health Camp at Magh Mela 2023

At Magh Mela 2023 held at Prayagraj, free health camps were organized once again by the not-for-profit organization Cheshtha in collaboration with other voluntary organizations and donors. Thousands of people benefited from these free health camps in which the cooperation and contribution of AngelLife Cosmetology and Wellness, Mayocare Private Limited, 32 Pearls Dental Clinic, MVM Motors, Arogyavaram Critical Care Hospital, and Virendra Hospital were commendable.

Health camps were held to provide basic health facilities at Magh Mela for the benefit of the pilgrims. The objective of organizing these health camps was to create general health awareness among people and provide general health care services and consultation on basic health care and hygiene. The doctors are available in the camp and provided information about hygiene & healthy ways of life along with free distribution of masks and medicines. Free ECG, sugar checks, blood pressure checks & pathology tests were also performed at these camps to make people aware of how to remain healthy during the month-long pilgrimage at Magh Mela. Senior cardiologist Dr. Pankaj Gupta gave his valuable time to serve the public. Free blankets and “Kandi” were made available to needy people to make their stay comfortable and protect them from the chilly winter near the holy river “Ganga”. Children were also treated at the camps and provided with generic medicines and vitamins.

Most of the people who attended the camp were suffering from fever and cold. Patients were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as gastritis, urinary tract infections, mouth ulcers, and eye cataract. In order to prevent the increasing cases of oral cancer in India, the methods of prevention were also spread to the public and fierce publicity against “Gutka” and tobacco was done. The support and service of Dr. Mohammad Saqib (senior oral cancer surgeon) were hugely appreciated.

The health camp was a major success with a tremendous response from the pilgrims and the general public. These camps that lasted for a full month successfully ended with Dr. Shashank Kharabanda, the founder of Cheshtha, remembering the co-founder of Cheshtha Late Mr. Akshat Mullick & thanking his colleagues Mr. Amresh Tripathi, Mr. Alamjit Singh Sekhon, Mr. Nishit Singh, Mr. Devesh Chaudhary, Mrs. Shefali Mian for their cooperation, without whom the organization would not be able to help the public & the underprivileged over the years. A special contribution of Dr. R.P Mishra (Director Virendra Hospital), Dr. Nikhil Dhawan, Dr. R.S Verma, Mrs. Shweta Srivastava, Mr. Mukesh Jaiswal, Mrs. Manu Gupta, and Mr. Deepak Jaiswal was also appreciated by the founder. The contribution of Dr. Shashwat Srivastava and Dr. Anjana, founders of Arogyavaram Hospital (Prayagraj’s top critical care hospital) was highly valuable at the health camps. Senior dentists Dr. Shubhi Sahai, Dr. Prashasta Mishra, and Dr. Rahul Mathur also took time to serve the public along with Dr. Krishn Singh & Dr. Rashmi Singh who also donated the services of an ICU ambulance for the month. Mr. Mithlesh Sharma, Miss Kiran Thakur, Ms. Seema Srivastava, and Mr. Arvind Maurya also provided their services and made these health camps a success.
