Miss Zimbabwe, Nokutenda Marumbwa, graced the global stage of 71st edition Miss World, at Jio Convention Centre Mumbai adorning an exquisite finale gown that seamlessly fuses the creative genius of two distinguished designers from the enchanting city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. The collaborative brilliance of Mr. Pritam Nayak and Mrs. Zaheeda Ahmed has birthed a masterpiece, a gown that transcends fashion to become a true work of art. This event celebrated the success story of Odia designers.

The event also witnessed breathing Odissi dance performances by students of Guruji Gajendra Panda from Tri dhara dance academy. There were special felicitation to Fashion designer Mrs Mamta Das & social entrepreneur Mrs Banaja Behera recognising and celebrating woman empowerment in view of International Woman’s Day.

The event was attended by eminent guests Shri Rajendra Parida (VP AACCI Odisha), Mr Ronnie Das, Mr Biswajit Patra, Mrs Sushree Patnaik & Mr Dilip Patra.

Adding to her illustrious achievement, Kalpana also earned the prestigious title of ‘the Best National Costume.’ This magnificent creation, crafted by the talented Designer Melvyn Dominic Noronha, paid homage to her Mrs. India UK title. It commemorated the 1-year Office Holding Anniversary of the esteemed UK Prime Minister, Mr. Rishi Sunak, the first individual of Indian and Asian origin to assume the role of British Prime Minister. Furthermore, it symbolized the struggle against the demons of a colonial past, juxtaposed with the inherent Indian heart that serves the world with boundless empathy.

Behind this remarkable success stands Kalpana’s National Director, Mrs. Urmi Boruah, who tirelessly worked day and night to ensure Kalpana’s brilliance shone through in the Pageant. Urmi assembled an exceptional team, and Kalpana’s victory was destined from the stars.

The dedicated team left no stone unturned in preparing for the Pageant’s critical scoring areas. The forum, a pinnacle event, required all participants to address the pressing issue of domestic violence. Kalpana’s presentation, titled ‘Break the Silence,’ was executed flawlessly, leaving a lasting impact.

This victory is a testament to the unwavering dedication of Mrs. Kalpana, Mrs. Urmi Boruah, and the entire UMB Elegant Monarch team. It’s a demonstration of the incredible potential of the Indian spirit to achieve one’s dreams.

She contested the Mrs. Universe 2023 pageant held at Manila,Philippines from  October 1 to October 9 2023 and was crowned as Mrs.EAST PACIFIC ASIA 2023.

While being married to a transplant surgeon and a mother to a 5 year old, the pageantry bug bit her at 32 years of age. She contested in the coveted Mrs. India Galaxy 2022-23 held in New Delhi in August 2022 and championed the event, thus bagging the title of Mrs India Galaxy 2022-23.

On a social frontier, Dr Syeda is a strong proponent of awareness on domestic violence against women. Violence, she says, could occur in more than one form, extending its spectrum from physical violence to mental, verbal and emotional harassment as well.

‘It has been my prerogative’, she elaborates, ‘to passionately fight this issue through knowledge, awareness, love, empathy and motivation.
